Simply Red to split up!
Er... yeah, we thought they already had, too.
Simply Red to split up!Joyous news for all! British pop "supergroup" SIMPLY RED are to split in 2009, once their current tour ends. We kind of thought they already had, seeing as we don't really hear too much about the ginger whinger and his whiny crew much over here, but apparantly not. (It's ok now though).
Frontman Mick Hucknall has revealed the group's Stay album - released in March - will be their last studio album but... wait for it... they're not ready to call it quits just yet (Are you sure guys? We really don't mind if you do!) Hucknall now apparantly wants to "invent a new kind of music"
Uh oh, can you give us some kind of clue? Will it involve more curly haired moon-faced people in tight trousers? We need some sort of warning Mick, you can't just spring it on us!
Hucknall, the driving force behind Simply Red, reveals he decided to disband the group after recording a solo tribute to R&B legend Bobby `Blue' Bland.
He says, "It's a solo project and I've really enjoyed it - so much that I feel the time has come now to just put a book-end to the (Simply Red) story.
Simply Red scored their first hit in their native Britain way back in 1985, with Money's Too Tight (To Mention). So was his clothing, at the time. The group's current single, The World and You Tonight, will be their last.
