When in Rome…
Ahlan! takes a stroll through the eternal city
With classic opulence, scatterings of timeless monuments and an inescapable air of romance, not a moment should be idly wasted in the eternal city.
Set out to see the sights, starting with the gory resonance of the Coliseum, exploring the temples and finish off indulging in an Italian chestnut gelati by the elegant fountains in one of the many cafe's lining the old cobbled streets.
Rome was built for romance, and this is true in abundance. Escape down the small medieval lanes leading from the busy squares, around Campo de Fiori and Piazza Navona where plenty of idyllic restaurants and cosy bars lie tucked away. And during the summer months, a handful of musical events are hosted in the parks, the perfect way to soak up the midday sunshine.
While you're there...
Take in the festivals
Every year there are outdoor festivals, concerts, operas and ballets in the city. Try the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma that takes place in the spectacular surroundings of the Baths of Caracalla, running through July to August.
Grape expectations
Spend the afternoon at the historic hilltop town of Frascati and sample the amazing wines on offer.
Escape the city
