Nicky's dismissed concerns, saying, "There's no truth to any starvation, eating disorders, rumours. I think that the press has been printing pictures of me from unflattering angles."

The stress of shooting the SATC movie seems to have taken its toll on SJP, whose already slight frame has been whittled away to rib-revealing proportions. "She has always been tiny," insisted her rep. "Yes, she has lost weight and she's aware of it - but if you're dancing for two hours a night and sweating a lot, it's going to happen." However, sources say the band are battling to ‘out skinny' one another. "All the girls seem to be competing with each other to see who can eat the least," a source told the Mirror.

"When you're away touring you're working really hard," insists Nic. But pals have pointed to Nicola's confidence crisis as being behind her intense dieting, and the singer herself recently admitted, "For years I felt like the ugly one in Girls Aloud... They all look perfect with lovely hair and amazing tanned bodies. I was the ugly one, the odd one out."

"At one point I had a little anorexia phase," recalls the 28-year-old. "I find the less attention I pay to food, the healthier I am. Everyone's obsessed right now with carbohydrates in this country."
