"Handbag House"

The Ahlan! ladies have some serious school disco flashbacks when we hear the words ‘80s', ‘dancing' and ‘handbags' in the same sentence. Oh, who are we kidding, we have flashbacks from our uni days and that impromptu party in the living room last month, where someone found the hidden Wham CD. What a beautiful disaster that turned out to be.

Anyway, it's been ages since we got this excited about a club opening here in Dubai. Plan B, the latest addition to the Wafi set, is opening TONIGHT and promises us varying nights of enjoyment, based around what is lovingly described as ‘handbag house'. This includes a ladies night on Tuesdays, with two complimentary drinks, ‘Bubblegum Wednesdays', featuring 80s and 90s music, a happy hour every night before midnight (plus all night on Saturdays), and the joys of resident DJ, Gary Howard - who will no doubt leave us no time between tunes to scoop up our handbags, so put your dancing shoes on - this ain't one for wallflowers, people.

The venue covers two floors, and you'll be able to order top quality international tapas, sip French champagne, indulge in one of many eclectic vodkas and witness live sushi rolling, before rolling yourself down to the dance floor - obviously.

They say it's not where you are, but who you're with, that matters. If we're totally honest, it's a bit of both here in Dubai isn't it, but the aim of Plan B is, ironically, to be the first choice amongst those looking for an unpretentious venue - a place in which everyone can be themselves. We're hoping this means we can hold our Wham CDs up high and embrace the music that made us who we are. But of course, if it means no one wants to buy us a drink we might have to put them back into hiding (sorry George. We'll continue to love you in secret).
