JAKE GYLLENHAAL dated former first daughter CHELSEA CLINTON when they were both teenagers, according to reports.

The 28-year-old star of Donnie Darko was introduced to the former first daughter by their parents in 1999 and began dating.

But their relationship only lasted a few months after they decided, despite pressure from their parents, they weren't actually a good match.

Jake now enjoys a successful movie career, starring in films such as The Day After Tomorrow and Brokeback Mountain with the late Heath Ledger.

He is currently going out with Hollywood actress Reece Witherspoon.

Chelsea, 28, is currently supporting her mother Hilary in her campaign for the Presidency.
