And it seems he hasn't learned from past mistakes, with rumours abounding that he's set to sign Ashlee and her fiancé Pete Wentz up to star in Newlyweds MKII - the reality show that launched Jessica... and wrecked her marriage.

"He knows that no one cared about Jessica before her reality show, and he's hoping a show for Ashlee will have the same effect," spilled a close source.

He famously didn't get along with Nick Lachey, but Simpson camp insiders say the 50-year-old dad-ager has a soft spot for his future son-in-law Pete Wentz, and, more crucially, is unable to boss him around like he did with Nick.

And with Ashlee's new album debuting at number four in the US charts, and the current media interest in whether or not she's pregnant, she's far more well-known to American audiences than Jessica, meaning a reality TV show couldn't possibly be on the cards... yet!
