Katie’s revolt!

Ever since Tom hired Scientology minders to follow Katie's every move in a bid to rush induct her into his shady ‘religion', Katie has found her every step dogged, not only by her minders, but increasingly by Tom.

And the 29-year-old actress has been happy to go along with her controlling husband's wishes, ever since he was the catalyst behind their fast-paced relationship which saw them engaged after two months together and Katie pregnant with Suri just four months after their first date.

But recently, with her career in freefall after the flop that was Mad Money - a movie that she made on Tom's advice - and no more offers in the pipeline, sources say Katie is getting ready to break free of Tom's grip.

Ahlan! reveals how Katie's career crisis could see her heading to New York - and the battle for Suri that her plans have unleashed!

Major career crisis
Having turned down the Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, to make box office bomb Mad Money, Katie has seen her acting credibility take a huge knock. Once touted as the next big thing, Katie has watched interest in her relationship with Tom take precedence over interest in her movies.

Heading for Broadway
With Hollywood hardly beating a path to her door, Katie has been offered work on Broadway in a revival of the stage play All My Sons, and is said to be desperate to take the role.

"She'd love to go to Broadway to show the world she can act," spilled a close pal, adding that Katie has all but stopped taking career advice from Tom. "She does often feel like the little wife that has to sit there quietly and smile serenely at everything he says."

Tom: ‘You can't take Suri'
Katie's move towards independence has been met with resistance from Tom, who is said by the US media to be refusing to let Katie take Suri to New York with her.

"She desperately needs to be on her own for a while, but there's no way that Tom is going to let her take Suri away," Star magazine reports. "There's no way he'll allow it. He just doesn't want Katie - or Suri - out of his sight for long."

With Tom realising that he may not be able to stop Katie from pursuing her dreams, according to insiders, the actor "told her that if she goes to New York, fine, but he goes with her."

They added, "Tom wants to call all the shots when it comes to Suri. He has a lot of rules, and there's conflict."

Tom's looming battle with Nicole
As if his turbulent home life wasn't enough, Tom is also facing some upcoming battles with his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, over how their two adopted children, Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13, are being raised.

Said to be fed up over the backlash that Katie's revelations that the two kids call her "mom" invoked - especially as the Oscar winner revealed that the pair call her "Nicole" - the pregnant star is said to be moving back to LA, after having set up home in Nashville with her country music star hubby, Keith Urban.

"She's put Tom on notice that she's going to spend the 50 per cent joint custody time she's entitled to with Connor and Isabella," revealed The Enquirer.

And sources have also indicated that Nicole is finally ready to battle Tom over the kids' Scientology upbringing, as she wants them out of the ‘religion's' grip once and for all and for the pair to study the Catholic religion.
