Former agent claims profits are his
by WENNEMINEM's mother is facing legal action from her former agent and manager over the revenue from her memoirs about her rap superstar son.
Neal Alpert claims the rapper's mum, Debbie Nelson, cut him out the profits after he had helped her put the book together.
Alpert alleges Nelson was under contract with him in November 2005, when she agreed to pen the book; My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem: Setting The Record Straight On My Life As Eminem's Mother, under his guidance as her manager and agent.
But, in legal papers filed in an Oakland County Circuit Court this week, Alpert claims she went behind his back and wrote the book with co-author Annette Witheridge and publisher Watson, Little, Ltd. - effectively cutting him out of a deal which would have seen him receive 25 per cent of the book's total earnings.
The book, which hit store shelves last year, has sold more than 100,000 copies to date, but Alpert claims he has yet to receive a pay cheque for his work.
And he is now suing for breach of contract.
Alpert's lawyer, Drew Norton, says, "As her agent, he was entitled to a percentage of profits but hasn't seen a dime."
Eminem - real name Marshall Mathers III - has been estranged from his mother for years.
