The last time that Victoria Beckham left her husband to his own devices in a foreign country, he allegedly ended up in the arms of his all-too-willing assistant, Rebecca Loos, so Hollywood watchers have been left wondering what Posh is playing at, abandoning a vulnerable David to single-mindedly pursue her career in fashion.
And the Spice Girl is so intent on being taken seriously by the fashion world, that sources say that she has snapped at David to "stop pressuring" her over expanding their family and spending more time with him in LA, so that she can focus on her DVB fashion brand.
Ahlan! digs deep into the Beckham marriage to reveal the rocky rows and ruthless ambition that has lead to their increasingly separate lives...
David's anger
Prone to bouts of loneliness, David has apparently told Victoria that he is not happy with the way things have been going in their marriage following her final Spice Girls concert.
"David feels like he put a lot of effort into supporting her on the tour, and now it's Posh's turn to concentrate on being there for him," revealed an insider. "He's always complaining about all her commitments."
And while they have their hands full with three boys, the LA Galaxy star had, according to pals, hoped to start trying for another baby, something which Posh refuses to contemplate.
Baby battle
Having wanted a little girl for many years now, 32-year-old David sees this as the perfect time for another baby and is at loggerheads with Victoria, who wants to put all of her time and effort into her fashion lines.
"She's tried to tell David they shouldn't rush to have another baby," spilled a close source.
"Stop hassling me!"
Pals of Victoria say she and David are drifting dangerously far apart, much in the same way that they did when David joined Real Madrid in 2003.
And after he went to great lengths to ask his wife of eight years to keep May 8 free for him - the anniversary of the first time they spent the night together - rather than feel flattered, Posh accused him of hassling her.
"She's under a lot of pressure and ends up just telling him to stop hassling her all the time," added the insider.
Unhappy marriage?
What else are they fighting about?
Her new career:
"[He hates] the constant phone calls to their home and the endless fashion meetings she has with her design team."
His ‘obsession':
"She gets angry with him and says he is no less obsessed than she is. She tells him he's... obsessed with playing for England again."
His quiet life:
"She winds him up, saying, ‘Where's the sexy young David Beckham gone? Don't turn into a middle-aged man on me!'"
David's new tattoo:
"Posh felt hurt that, unlike the rest of his tattoos, they didn't come up with the idea together."
Katie vs Posh
The former NBFs are said to be at each other's throats, with their latest spat over who is the more fashionable of the two.
Leaving Posh with no LA ally in which to confide her marriage woes, Katie is said to have turned against her former bestie and their relationship has descended into jealous sniping.
Fashion fight
"Katie was on the cover of Harper's Bazaar in the US last year and she's envious that Victoria scored the more prestigious Vogue. Katie feels she deserves it more," revealed an LA insider. Adding, "Katie and Tom turned Victoria and David into stars in the US... but now it's needling Katie that she's being made to look as if she doesn't have any taste and needs Victoria to help her."
"Posh is trashy"
So riled is Katie by Victoria's apparent style superiority that Katie allegedly told pals she was sick of Victoria's "trashy style". "When Victoria advised her to get some tattoos like hers, Katie hit the roof, saying, ‘I wouldn't be caught dead with one,'" revealed a pal.
VB hits back
Already unsure of her reception in the fashion word, Victoria was left raging at Katie's comments, allegedly snarling to pals, "I know more about fashion than she'll ever know. I have my own line. I've told her what to wear and what not to - she used to dress like a schoolgirl. Then she even tried to copy my hair."
