Kate Dalheimer

“People often ask me if I miss alcohol, whether I have to cover up and how I live in 50 degree heat all year round! The more people who visit here to dispel the misconceptions – the better!” laughs Kate Dalheimer. Drawn to the UAE out of a desire to travel and experience life in a new city, the woman who thinks her friends would describe her as, “friendly, messy, and sometimes a bit nuts” never imagined that she’d now be one half of Dubai’s catering company du jour. “I always wanted to try something for myself but this happened sooner than expected! We launched Dish in 2008 and I enjoy my job immensely, it is a very satisfying and challenging blend of creative and management roles, I love being part of such a young, enthusiastic team.”

Henry Dyer

Henry Dyer was on his way to London five years ago and decided to give into curiosity and stop over in Dubai to take a look, “the rest,” he says, “is history.” His spontaneous decision to stay has certainly been a fortuitous one, as he now co-owns the constantly in-demand Dish Catering and Events with business partner Kate. He’s a firm believer that hard work and patience equal success in Dubai: “The opportunities are surprisingly endless here; it’s a great place for entrepreneurs.” Perhaps it’s down to his positive laid-back attitude, or his mantra that “anything is possible, never say no,” but 2010 looks like the busiest year yet for Dish and Henry alike, with plans afoot for a second kitchen opening in Abu Dhabi taking care of the professional goals, while mastering the art of kite-surfing is top of this action man’s To Do List.
