Whether you are a fitness freak who likes to keep up with the latest equipment and techniques or a fitness geek who is wary of all those machines and forever putting off getting on to a fitness regimen, MEFIT 2008 is the place for you. The event dedicated to all aspects of health and fitness will be held at the Aviation Club Dubai, from March 27 to 29.
Visitors can participate in a variety of individual and group fitness classes and seminars. There are also lots of fun activities for children designed to create health awareness. These include the ‘Have-a-go' day on Thursday and Saturday. Organised in collaboration with the ‘Right to Play' foundation, it will offer children the opportunity to play games such as basketball, football and tennis and to learn many new games.
A highlight of the event is the launch of Fitclub, a fitness programme specially designed for school children and Billybounce a basketball program for kids that promotes coordination, skills and agility. While their children are playing, parents can workout on the latest range of fitness equipment provided by the leading equipment companies in the Middle East in the ‘Supergym' set up in the main exhibition area.
A three-day ‘Group Fitness Summit' and ‘Personal Trainer Summit' and a one-day ‘Business Forum' for Recreation club managers, business owners, healthcare and fitness equipment manufacturers will also be held on the sidelines of the event. The growing incidence of obesity among children, diabetes and heart disease are among the issues that will be highlighted at the MEFIT 2008 Health and Fitness Summit.
"MEFIT represents an excellent platform to promote the benefits of incorporating physical activity into the daily routine for an improved lifestyle. We want to educate children and adults on the importance of health and fitness, while giving them the chance to workout in a fun, friendly and safe environment," says MEFIT founder Rania Boucher.
