Post-Ryan Reynolds (when he went on to marry Scarlett in record time!), Alanis Morissette has dropped a massive nine kilos! The secret to her break-up diet? The 35-year-old, former self-confessed yo-yo dieter has switched meat for a plant and fruit-based vegan diet. The singer joins a growing list of celebs – including Natalie Portman and Pamela Anderson – who swear by a meat-free diet to keep their bods red-carpet readd...
Slim with salad
Alanis admits going green wasn’t easy saying, “It was a big lifestyle change for me.” But the singer – who now starts her day with a spinach and banana smoothie, followed by a kale salad, snacking on grapefruit – says she hasn’t looked back.
“I’m eating like an adult rather than like a seven-year-old at a candy store,” she says. Adding, “Now, around food, I can be trusted.”
Why go green?
The current A-list trend towards animal-free living comes amid claims from climate change experts that meat-eaters need to mend their carnivorous ways – “Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases,” says eco expert Lord Stern. “It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.”
Posh and Kylie sign up
New members to the celeb veggie club have been recruited thanks to the Skinny B**** phenomenon currently sweeping T’town. The diet book – written by former Ford model agent Rory Freedman and ex-model Kim Barnouin, and sold at plush LA store Kitson – bans animal products and counts Kylie and Victoria Beckham among its fans.
