It's not every day you get to look over from your poolside sun lounger and spot a rock god in their bathers, but this is Abu Dhabi and this is the Grand Prix weekend, so anything is possible.

Clearly the Shangri-La Abu Dhabi was the place to stay for the Grand Prix, after all it was the choice of hotel for Aerosmith rock god Steven Tyler. Lucky enough to be staying there as well this was the chance to catch the man sans the leather trousers and stage makeup and report back to the screaming fans of the UK - namely my Aunt who's had a crush on him since the 70s.

So what did was it like seeing the semi-nude lothario?

If you go with my friend's shocked reaction - "is that the Michael Jackson impersonator who's doing those concerts?" - it has to be said that there was a certain alabaster quality to Stevens face and the contrast between the alarmingly smooth and wrinkle-free face with his rather older looking body - but then again, lets ask ourselves who looks good in their swimmers? No one.

But rather than focus on the lack of poolside chic, Steven looked excited, thrilled and as party-crazed as ever about the weekend. Due on stage tonight, you know the guy will blow us all away (regardless of the MJ lookalike issue and his 61 years) - and thankfully this time he'll be in his leather trousers.
