Singer killed by coyotes
Teenager Taylor died after being attacked and mauled
Singer killed by coyotesTeenage folk singer TAYLOR MITCHELL has died in hospital after she was mauled by coyotes during a trip to a Canadian national park.
The 18 year old, who was based in Toronto, Canada, was attacked on Tuesday as she walked through the Cape Breton Highlands in the south east of the country.
A group of hikers heard her cries and alerted emergency services. She was airlifted to hospital in Halifax but passed away from her injuries on Wednesday morning.
Mitchell's manager Lisa Weitz has issued a statement paying tribute to the young singer, who had recently released her first album and was in the middle of a Canadian tour.
The statement reads, "Words can't begin to express the sadness and tragedy of losing such a sweet, compassionate, vibrant, and phenomenally talented young woman."
Germaine LeMoine, public affairs officer with Parks Canada, insists coyote attacks on humans are extremely rare: "This wouldn't even be considered a yearly event. It's extremely rare in the history of the park."
