Sal Interview!
Ahlan caught up with the Middle East’s next big thing at the launch of his brand new music video
How did you get started in music?
Music has always been a part of me from an early age as I come from a very musical family background. The main influence was my late brother ‘Chuli' who was a huge Kenyan Artist, growing around him led me to want to do music. After which I came to realise this is where my true potential and talent lay.
What kind of music do you make?
I make various kinds of music. My music style is very eclectic in its nature due to the various types of music I have been exposed too. However to sum it up, I bring a new vibe which is a mixture of RnB, Pop, and commercial elements.
Who is your biggest musical influence?
I would definitely have to say the late Michael Jackson (RIP) as artists don't get bigger than him. His dedication to music made me aspire to become like him. He was a perfectionist which is one of the qualities you have to have to make it in this game.
Where are you hoping your career will go?
My goal is to expose myself as an international Artist and Music Producer. However my dream is to place UAE as the hub of the Middle East when it comes to creating Western music. I am looking forward to the day when international artists will come to the UAE to record and work with the home grown artists.
How do you feel about the comparisons between yourself and Karl Wolf?
As both of us are home grown talents I believe there will always be comparisons. I do feel our music is different, but at the same time we are all carrying the flag to represent the Middle East.
Have you ever been left starstruck when you met a celebrity?
In the beginning we all experience excitement when meeting celebrities, but as I have had the opportunity to work with international artists you come realise they are just normal people like everyone else.
If there was one celebrity, dead or alive you could meet, who would it be?
Unfortunalty for me my idol past away... I'm still hoping to meet Michael Jackson in the afterlife!
What are your future plans for Dubai gigs? Where can we expect to see you?
I am looking forward to be the opening act for most of the international artists that will be coming to UAE to perform. I am currently in talks with various promoters locally and internationally.... So watch this space!
