Why? And we're not talking A-list mothers who wear a tool belt and put up shelves (although we're pretty sure that Jodie Foster's "partner" Cydney might enjoy doing that...?) But rather, Jodie Foster and Nigella Lawson's recent declarations that no way are they giving their brats a helping hand up the career ladder - it's Do It Yourself time, kids!

The fab Ms Foster, last week insisted, "[My] older [son] asks me if he can appear in a film or on television. I warn him that I'm not going to find him work."

Whoa! Steady on Jodes, you might actually be doing what we like to call "responsible parenting" and it could get you thrown out of Hollywood!

And then Nigella piped up with, "I am determined that my children should have no financial security. It ruins people not having to earn money" - and we're left in slack-jawed admiration, that this pair might actually turn out enough anti-Hiltons to make Tinseltown a better place.
