Road trip over rehab for Owen?

Said to be shocked and embarrassed at the level of press attention his suicide attempt garnered, Owen is keen to return to normal as soon as possible and put his hospitalisation behind him.

Insiders have said to expect a rites-of-passage interview a la Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie's recent public mea culpas, before Owen gets back to work.

"When he is ready, he's going to speak for himself much better than any of us could," revealed longtime pal, director Wes Anderson.

Having been forced to drop out of the movie Tropic Thunder, but with three movies currently in production, Owen's said to be keen to get back to work, particularly in the upcoming Marley & Me, opposite Jennifer Aniston. And Wes's comment that, "He has been doing very well, he has been making us laugh," shows that the old Mr Wilson could be back soon.

His lifestyle and movie choices are hardly conventional, so why would Owen go the way of every other celeb and hit rehab to sort out his woes? The Oscar-nominated actor is said, by close pals, to be planning a road trip - with a companion - to escape Hollywood and put his life back together in the wake of his suicide attempt.

According to LA sources, Owen has already hired a Dhs2,700-a-day ‘sober companion' to join him on his road trip and is, according to an insider, "hoping to slip out of LA to spend a little quality time alone."

Having already shelved his movie commitments and been excused from promoting his latest movie, The Darjeeling Limited, Owen, whose family has warned ex-girlfriend Kate Hudson to stay away, is all set to leave Tinseltown behind for a while.
