MezzalunaWith its classically inspired Italian designed interior using long table cloths, sofa chairs and high, palazzo-style ceilings, the marble arches and round crystal chandeliers of Mezzaluna are evocative of the villas of ancient Rome. Fresco paintings detailing Italian landmarks, fresh flowers and the black, grand piano all conspire to create an ambiance of fresh and lyrical luxurious opulence. The cuisine, which is contemporary Italian, is deliciously unpretentious, made with the finest and freshest ingredients possible, most of which are sourced from Italy, and is served in refreshingly generous and traditional portions. Large chunks of fresh foccacia and panini can be dipped into the delicious and gourmet balsamic and olive oils, which are selected from their own trolley, while the extensive menu offers an excellent choice for all palettes, including vegetarians. Signature dishes are the lobster carpaccio with citrus vinaigrette, angel hair pasta with prawns and lemon cream sauce, whole sea bass (for two) filleted at the table and the whipped lighter-than-air zabaioni – an indulgent but utterly sublime dessert to wrap up the perfect meal.
