Serving Catalan cuisine with an emphasis on gourmet seafood, Ossiano is headed up by Santi Santamaria, the three-starred Michelin celebrity chef, who is also known as ‘the architect of food’. With such impeccable credentials, there is nothing else to be expected other than gastronomic excellence by the bucketful. To start with, the design of Ossiano’s stunning dining room, is extraordinary, as it opens onto the famous Ambassador Lagoon aquarium in the Atlantis hotel. The lighting is all calm blues and ambient woods, while a Cinderella-esque staircase transports guests into this latest form of restaurant heaven. In terms of cuisine, it’s also clear why this is the very first venture Santi Santamaria has attempted outside of his native Spain. His countrymen clearly do not wish to share him with anyone else. The Octopus with potatoes and smoked paprika oil is divine, as is the signature dish of king crab, pacchri di Napoli and citrus butter. Another heavenly treat is the mushroom cream soup with truffle juice and poached quail egg. Delicacy meets artistic brilliance at Ossiano’s, which is the place to be if you have something really special to celebrate. But be sure to book well in advance.
