For a civilized and ambient lunch or supper amidst the weekend mayhem that has become symptomatic of Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates, Almaz by Momo offers a welcome refuge away from the many mall-walking hoards. Tastefully decorated in a contemporary and traditional fusion of North African colours, lighting and artifacts, the interior of Almaz by Momo is atmospheric and welcoming. As testimony to its excellent menu, the restaurant is almost always full, despite being discreetly tucked away behind Harvey Nichols and not serving alcohol. To the gentle background jingle of Arabic music, the traditional, Moroccan menu which includes a comprehensive fusion of Middle Eastern dishes, is served with speed, a smile and aplomb. Melt in the mouth mezze, succulent and aromatic goat tagine, satisfying cous cous with spicy tomato harissa and a fine selection of desserts, means those leaving this unlicensed restaurant disappointed, will be few and far between.
