Italian designer Roberto Cavalli rolled into town this weekend for the launch of his new uber-chic Cavalli Club. Ahlan! managed to catch up with the fashion maestro to find out what to expect from his new venture and of course, which celebs he rates in the fashion stakes...

Why did you choose Dubai to launch a night club?
Dubai is a dream for me. I love it here, it's like working in the future! It's a big step in my career to open up this lifestyle concept, but I didn't choose Dubai - they chose me.

What can we expect from the Cavalli Club?
It's a $30 million, (Dhs110 million) investment. A total lifestyle concept that will sell my favourite music, my wine, chocolates - everything! It will be a totally unique space for people to socialize, shop and dine in extravagant and opulent surroundings. It will represent the Cavalli personality - for me colours mean a long life, and I love life!

Do you have any plans to expand your global empire?
I have been offered deals to open boutique hotels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Moscow.

And finally, the question o everyone's lips....Who are your favourite celebs?
I have so many celebrity friends. I love Halle Berry, she's shy, sweet and beautiful and of course I love Victoria Beckham's style. Britney was also sweet at the beginning of her career - a simple, nice girl but success changes character.
