If you’ve ever wondered what it would feel like to be Alice In Wonderland disappearing down the rabbit-hole... in Japan... then the awesome tunnel-like entrance to Kitsune, will certainly scratch that esoteric itch.

The Fairmont’s newest dining experience has fast become one of Ahlan!’s – and judging by the packed tables on it’s first day of opening – Dubai’s fave new super-hip destination of choice.

Start with a cocktail. The Zinko (apple vodka and cinnamon) is pretty spesh, but we’d highly recommend the Ninko, which mixes fresh pineapple, lemongrass, lime, sake, vodka and dry martini to fabulous effect – as you take in the decadent futuristic-traditional surroundings, which, at certain points during the evening are swathed in bursts of dry ice – adding a certain level of atmos to the dining occasion!

We tucked into unbelievably rich Wagyu beef, done-to-perfection edamame, classic spicy tuna maki and the lightest tempura prawns!

Lashings of pretty well-priced wine was de rigueur before dessert – our total fave ginger, lemongrass crème brûlée. Then it’s back up the rabbit hole and… well, it’d be rude not to pop into Cin Cin for post-dinner drinks... right?
