Upscale contemporary Chinese food is likely to be an unknown
HukamaUpscale contemporary Chinese food is likely to be an unknown luxury to those of us used to grabbing a Kung Pow chicken to go with our DVD box set, so Hukama’s culinary adventure for your taste buds promises to raise the bar.
Appropriate to its status as the signature restaurant of The Address, the interior is lush and glitzy. Waiting staff glide around in shimmering silks and the ambience is as nicely chilled as the white wine.
The inviting menu offers tasty new twists on old favourites. Crispy duck and five-spice pork ribs are juicy and flavoursome, while a smoked fish dish is nicely complemented by seafood noodles. Vegetarians need look no further than the set tasting menu: a four-course array of dishes, kicking off with delightfully chewy crispy mushrooms with orange, and rounding off with rich black sesame ice cream, via creamy fresh vegetable nests.
But food aside, the main selling point of Hukama is the downtown view. Grab a table on the balcony, and you can look out over an amazing vista which mixes old-style buildings, shining pools, the obligatory cranes and the Burj Dubai rising up out of centre stage.
