Lesson 1

Have a split public and private image

Britney's example: Publicly insisting that she would remain a virgin until her wedding night, the singer was fooling the world, and it emerged that she had lost her virginity aged 14 to her boyfriend Reg Thomas, and been intimate with Justin Timberlake since the start of their relationship.

What Jamie learned: Aged an impressionable seven when Brit hit the big time, Jamie quickly saw that what you said and did in private could be completely different from what you said in public - and fans would still worship you.

Lesson 2

Women are meant to have babies and stay at home

Britney's example: "Where I come from, the woman is the homemaker, and that's how I was brought up," Britney insisted. "You cook for your kids."

What Jamie learned: Despite landing the lead role in award-winning kid's TV show Zoey 101, Jamie believed that a career was just something a woman - or in her case, a girl - had until motherhood, which seems to come sooner for southern girls.

Lesson 3

Be ignorant as to how babies are made

Britney's example: "I was shocked because it was so soon," Britney revealed, when spilling all about her second pregnancy with Jayden James. "I was a little scared at first. Yes, I was very surprised."

What Jamie learned: Well, clearly, not how babies are made that's for sure! The ignorant 16-year-old revealed to a US magazine, "It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in complete and total shock and so was he."

Lesson 4

Being secretive around mum is acceptable

Britney's example: Brit's relationship with Lynne deteriorated rapidly in the public eye, to the extent that she served her mother with legal papers telling her to stay away from her grandchildren.

What Jamie learned: Influenced by her sister, the teen star's also distanced herself from her mum, managing to fool Lynne about what she‘d been up to. "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious," said a shocked Lynne. "She's never late for her curfew... this is my 16-year-old baby."

Lesson 5

You can ditch your role model status when you feel like it

Britney's example: Brit's alleged alcohol and drug abuse, as well as her two failed marriages, saw her refuse to accept her status as a role model to fans, insisting - "These parents, think I'm a role model for their kids... I'm not responsible for your kid."

What Jamie learned: Little sis learned that she could act and say what she wanted, without thinking of the implications for the young fans of her TV show. "I definitely don't think [teen pregnancy] is something you should do; it's better to wait," JL told the US mag. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."

Lesson 6

Have no concept of how lucky you are to have your career

Britney's example: Her career's downward slide started in June 2004, when a knee injury forced her to cancel her tour. And after marriage, babies and divorce, Brit's lost enthusiasm, not bothering to promote new album, Blackout, and refusing to rehearse for music videos and shows.

What Jamie learned: Her TV show, Zoey 101, has won awards and is one of Nickolodean's most-watched programmes, but Jamie doesn't seem to care, saying about the situation, "I haven't spoken to (Nickelodeon) personally."

Showing just how far removed Brit now is from her sister, insiders say she knew nothing of the pregnancy, or the sold story. "Britney herself rung up [the magazine] trying to get a copy," spilled a friend. Whilst another added, "This is going to kill her."
