Has the singer signed up for a "quirky" nativity role?

In a story that, if it was in connection with any other celeb, Ahlan! would laugh at uproariously, Britney Spears has been named as the frontrunner to play the Virgin Mary in a retelling of the nativity story.

And, with no manager to advise her otherwise, the troubled star is said to be considering taking the role in what would be a "quirky" version of the tale, with a pal revealing, "She likes the idea."

Offering her the part in Sweet Baby Jesus, producer Philippe Rebboah said, "My partners were like, ‘Oh, no. Britney?' But it's brilliant. It's a bit ironic that she would play the Virgin Mary, no?"

No way!
Missing court-ordered depositions, struggling to win back custody of her kids and watching her comeback album, Blackout, drop out the charts, Brit has no time to resurrect her dead-in-the-water acting career.

Brit ditched the movie career after her 2002 flop, Crossroads, but popped up in an acclaimed role in Will & Grace in 2006. However with all her personal problems, she soon became uninsurable on a movie set.

And after she turned up nine hours late to shoot her video Piece Of Me, and failed to attend rehearsals for the MTV VMAs, it's unlikely Brit would turn up on set, let alone make the final cut.
