Sing Along to Texas
Thu 23 Jan
The band will mark their 25th anniversary with their first ever UAE gig, at Dubai’s Irish Village. About time, we say! The band, led by glam frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri, will run through their hits including I Don’t Want a Lover, Halo, Inner Smile and Say What You Want.

Here are five fast facts about the band…
1 Their name was inspired by the 1984 movie <Paris, Texas>. In fact, they hail not from the Wild West but from Scotland.
2 The band was founded by Johnny McElhone, who used to be in the group Altered Images, best known for their hit Happy Birthday.
3 As well as a solo career, lead singer Sharleen Spiteri has lined up an alternative job as a TV talent show judge. She offered her advice on British X Factor-style show Must be the Music.
4 Sharleen used to date Bob Dylan’s son Jakob, frontman of LA band The Wallflowers.
5 She used to be a hairdresser in Glasgow, and still uses her crimping skills on her family, including daughter Misty Kyd.
